Why a Blog Page?
My New Communications Platform
Many of you are used to seeing my ministry updates through snail mail. And many of you have yet to receive a ministry update as you recently signed up to receive them. And some of you do not even know I have ministry updates.
So you might be wondering, “Why are you starting a Blog Page for your Ministry?”
That is a great question! Primarily, I want to be able to communicate more often than snail mail updates.
What is a Blog Page?
To answer that question, we should first define what a Blog Page is.
A Blog Page is actually just a website, but it is a specific kind of website designed to tell an ongoing story through a series of short posts.
The Narrative
This series of short, ongoing posts is designed to provide an unfolding narrative of a Ministry.
Traditional newsletters give supporters brief snapshots of a moment in time, but as you will see in the coming months, a blog page presents the past, present, and future of a Ministry all at once.
Each Post builds on the last, weaving a richer and more meaningful picture of what God is doing.
This type of layout is especially helpful for new people exploring the Ministry!
No Information Dumps
A Blog Page also helps Missionaries overcome the tendency to do “information dumps" on our readers.
Blog Posts are designed to be short, one to two minute reads for supporters.
Short and concise is the rule.
We live in a TikTok world where your time is precious and I want to respect that in how I communicate with you.
No more three page newsletters from me! Just short updates on my ministry and sometimes, just for fun, updates on my personal life. I love serving the Lord and I love my job. However, I have interests outside of missions, and so I hope you will enjoy those too!
Expanding Our Reach
Blog page apps come with integrated tools that allow any posts made to be seen by a broader audience.
For example, if I share a post about a "Short-term Mission Trips,” and a random stranger does a Google Search on “Short-term mission trips,” my post may come up in that person’s search results.
Blog Page Apps are also designed to help me share my posts cross other Apps quickly and easily.
Reposting my latest blog post to Facebook can be done with just a tap on a button. If I decide to branch out to Instagram or other platforms, I will let you know.
More Efficient Use of Time
Something that you, the reader, will never see, is the convenience of using a Blog Page for communications over traditional email services like Mailchimp.
The "behind the scenes" communications support and formatting tools that come with a Blog Page allow me to post quickly and frequently without adding any extra workload.
THAT is a Godsend!
More Jesus for More People
I hope in the coming months, my new Blog Page will allow more concise and meaningful communications with you.
The better our communications, the stronger our ministry bill be, with the end result being "More Jesus for More People"!
And that's a good thing!
