About Beth
One of my favorite things: mountains, sunset, water all in one place. Photo taken about 40 miles north of Juneau, Alaska, in 2008.

It is a bit daunting to write about myself. What comes to mind is the song “My Favorite Things” from the movie/musical The Sound of Music. Maria starts listing things: daffodils … green meadows …

I like these things too; and I like what she does in the song. So, here are a few of my favorite things:

Music and musicals🎶

Stargazing

Time with family and friends ⏱️

Playing with cats and dogs

Lambs and sheep (I grew up on a sheep farm)

Seeing sheep or cattle grazing in a pasture in my travels

Windy days and winding roads

Traveling the backroads instead of the interstate

Traveling to other countries

Going on mission trips✈️

Taking photographs of flowers and landscapes

Garden gnomes

Visiting historical sites

Trying new food at ethnic restaurants

Coffee and chai lattes☕

Sunrises and sunsets

Mountains, plains, rolling hills, oceans, forests

A good laugh

Puns and “dad jokes”😄

Board games and card games

And there is so much more I could list.

This has been fun typing out my list, however, in all seriousness, I am saving the best for last: the Triune God and the Bible. Without God, none of my favorite things would be possible.

Here are my last two favorite things: My favorite Bible verse is actually all of Psalm 23. My favorite image of Jesus is that of the Good Shepherd. I love these because I had my own flock of sheep as a child, and I can personally relate to the imagery of a shepherd and what it takes to care for sheep. And this is how I picture Jesus taking care of me.❤️
